I include an alternate URL which gets one directly to the webpage link and saves a bit of fumbling.

Would recommend that users read that webpage before proceeding, tho!
thanks again,

Subject: [LegacyUG] Windows endlessly trying to install programs
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=290301
I won't bother you with the details but after a frustrating month of blaming innocent software, I found the problem was MS Windows - itself.
Using the Windows Installer Clean Up utility - I had 3 strange files which I removed and the dilemma was gone.
You might use google or any search engine and querie: Windows Installer Clean Up. I was amazed at the extent of this nuisance.
