Cathy and Rob, thank you so much for your input on sourcing. I tried a
search in the archives on "sources" and it pulled up over 1200 messages,
most of which are not specific to how others use this feature. Not that I
worked through more than a couple of dozen :-)

Hopefully others also will suggest the ways they source or point maybe to
websites that discuss it. I've printed out your replies and will be studying
them as well as the website tips and trying to find more under the online
help feature. It's so easy to bog down half way through months of research
and entering data, discovering that the method used has created problems. I
remember that happening when I was doing family history several years ago.

It might be helpful also to newcomers to hear of ways that have caused
problems so we can avoid them. The truth is I never did use reports -- I
didn't get that far and really didn't think of how sourcing could be helpful
to me in the work. I only thought of it as pointing others who want to check
the sources of my findings. I'm sure I have yet to discover the situations
where I will need to look up sources.

Then when I think that all this needs to be pulled together when printing
out a family history, so it prints out citations correctly, it's
overwhelming. I will try to use the reports features so I can see how the
sources I've entered work. That is likely the best way to know if they will
work!

Peggy
