I have had really good luck with intellishare- I would highly recommend
it. First make a back up that you can restore if you don't care for how
it merged. Then with the click of a few buttons, it does a great job. I
had no problems when I did mine and it took care of all of my
duplicates.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Tagging to merge records

Some time ago I realized that I must have IMPORTED <a dirty word> the
same GEDCOM into my files twice. So far, I thought I had merged all the
doubles by going to the source and clicking on show list and hand
merging manually one by one from there but a new batch showed up today.
Can I go to that source named after the sender, and tag every name in
the source and just ask LEGACY to do a merge? A merge on the tagged
names? My data holds over 20,000 names and as good as LEGACY is at
merging I hesitate to do it knowing that it will take hours
