JB, Syoung et al, Adding to John Bayle's comments. I agree wholeheartedly.
Having just finished a geocoding exercise of some 190,000 addresses (for work not pleasure!) my views are : a) One geocoded point can have many attributes. b) An address can only be in one place ie have only one geocoded point. Here in our very young country, road names which were originally given by the immigrant family (as in Smith Road, Jones Lane, etc) have been, over many years, renamed by the local councils or authoirities. Working on the premise that the building usually remains in the same position from planning to demolition, it is quite easy track address name changes. I can use my BDM places data in a map format which allows me to see things such as density of names in an area and am also able to track family migration within this country. (The old adage of "a picture paints a thousand words" comes to mind.) I have found that this enables me to make a reasonably sound decision whether to, for example, visit a particular graveyard, etc. John Groome Godzone (New Zealand) Legacy User Group Etiquette guidelines can be found at: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp To find past messages, please go to our searchable archives at: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup%40mail.millenniacorp.com/ To unsubscribe please visit: http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/LegacyLists.asp
