Ron,

Ref Bangor v Bangor

I was unable to glean anything from our (NZ Post) internal web site, so went
to my local postshop, who reliably informed me that provided the postcode
was used, not only was the country name not required - UK being enough - but
mail would still get delivered where the town name was absent.

I can remember testing the postcode system when it was introduced in the
early/middle 70s and addressed an envelope with only initials and postcode.
It was delivered within two days, having been incorrectly delivered at the
first attempt! Consequently I have great confidence in the postal service.
