I tend to report all my events in bullet form and non-snetence form, something like "[Desc]. [Date], [Place]. [Sources]. [Notes]" so that all situations (single or multiple events) are handled uniformly.

Problem with changing the default sentence is that it would then apply
to all instances and that could create problems. Suppose a person's
occupation for the first half of their life was airline pilot, then
he/she became a teacher. Changing the default would cause both
sentences to read "is" even though one of the occupations has ended.

Why would you use sentence override for this? Override only affects the
specific instance of the event for which you use override. If you are going
to override I don't see the point in using the variable fields - why not
just type the sentence exactly as you want it for that instance? Wouldn't
it make more sense to edit the event the sentence definition to read as
described below - then it would 'work' for all instances of the event,
depending on the variables.
