"Non-standard" dates and "between" dates sometimes cause the loss of events in file transfers (not just the loss of the date.) If you care about file transfers, check Legacy's GEDCOM options with a transfer to specific versions of other genealogy programs used by your relatives and utilities that might be used for wall charts or web pages.

Besides date methods, check the look of place holder commas added by Legacy when a file is transferred.

Standard birth-death dates are important for creating custom reports showing individuals alive at the time of a source like a census. Children are normally sorted in birth order using known or estimated birth dates. Families with children in the wrong order must be identified one by one.

Standard dates for marriage are important for sorting multiple spouses before creating book reports. The position of an extra spouse affects Legacy 4 and 5 Relationship Charts when the descendants are from the first and third (or later) marriages of the common ancestor. This problem was discussed on the list more than a year ago and demonstrated to Legacy staff in October 2004. -- Elizabeth

It would be good, but how would it go on a Gedcom export?

Perhaps a wish-list request for a Quarter format would make sense?
