I managed to create a 60" x 35" chart that I had printed at Staples for
$3.00 and change.

My memory is a bit fuzzy re this, but I had to use a program called pdf995
(www.pdf995.com) (free for the basic version) which allows you to "print"
pdf files. It installs as a print driver, and instead of selecting your
Epson/Canon/HP/whatever to print to, you select pdf995 and make it your
default printer for the moment. This was the critical step, because
apparently when you use Legacy to output a .pdf file, it looks at your
default printer driver to see what the maximum dimensions it will print are,
and then limits the dimensions in the .pdf file to those of the printer.

Before I even started the chart, I made pdf995 my default printer and within
the printer preferences selected the output size I wanted (36"x96" is the
maximum as I recall).

The folks at Staples at first told me that they could only print 36"x36",
but when I pointed out that their printer was roll-fed, suggesting that one
dimension was flexible, the clerk got a more knowledgeable employee who
solved the problem. Kinko's was more expensive and really wasn't interested
in a just printing 2 charts.

For those who are wondering what printing to a .pdf file means -
When pdf995 is your default printer, the output is not a piece of paper from
a printer. Rather, a .pdf file is created and a message box pops up asking
you what you want to name the file and what drive/folder you want it in.
Very handy. Particularly when you want to save a web page and it won't
save.

Good luck

Dear LUG:

3) This year I would like to print out a humongous family tree with all
the
living relatives to lay out on a large table, to have attendees come up,
find themselves and color in...
