Susan, > I have looked everywhere but cannot see how to open two 'Name > Lists' at the > same time?
That's because the Name List as are most forms in Legacy, is Modal. This means the screen that is displayed retains the focus until a user clicks OK, Cancel or Close as you have found out. I have my suspicions, but let me enquire for you. > I am busy comparing two data files of the same family, I > don't want to > 'merge' them, one sent to me by a 'cousin'. I have the two > files open on > the 'split screen', but only seem to be able to go from one > to the other of > the 'Name List'. It would simplify things if both 'Name > Lists' could be > open at the same time. > > Is there anyway of doing this, please ??? Without knowing your reasons for using the name List because the reasons could be many; but have you considered the MudCreek program GenMatcher, also available through Legacy. This is a great program for comparing two files side by side, where you can compare Individuals(Events, Notes and Sources), families, pedigrees and descendants.
