Hi Don here [bit o humor there]
As I wrote in one of my last posts , I actually went through many
programs some of which I still have. I believed that I would NEVER,NEVER
leave FTM and I updated to number FTM # 9 I think, but then I kept seeing
LEGACY and I used it to merge several of my files and it went so easily that
one day I went LEGACY and never looked back. I have been on this mailing
list for about the last five years off and on and there is not a mailing
list like this one [as far as I know] for any other genealogy program. Not
only am I learning genealogy things but other valuable information as well.
on this list someone lamented about the form of the reports, so far, I have
only done simple reports to share with others, so my experience is not the
greatest, so I have no complaints, hope this helps you choose

Don here, I have no particular reason for going from FTM to Legacy over

other way around (Legacy to FTM).
Just wanted to have one program to post initial entries.
I am open for suggestions as to the best way to go.
I would like to stick with just one program. Give me reasons to stay only
with Legacy over maintaining both, other than the cost of updating both.

I agree totally , but I also did from FTM to Legacy before I went totally
LEGACY because I was not sure which one I wanted to stay with. I also used
Family Origins then its child Roots Magic
What finally convinced me to go LEGACY besides its merging factor was
all the shortcut keys. A massive stroke in 1998 left me with the use of
just
my right side and the shortcut keys in LEGACY have allowed me to enter
over
30,000 names in 3 months
Now I ONLY use one family tree program -"LEGACY "
