Here is some help. My example. Joe.* 110098 records. Mary.* 4523 records. Family.* between 15000 and 16000 records, after merge. Create a New file Family. Go to CUSTOMIZE, OTHER, CUSTOMIZE USER ID NUMBERS, choose fill blank numbers, KEY 'Joe[RIN]' per instructions.Repeat for Mary. Add import Joe into FAMILY, as is. When adding Mary, a few choices come up. make the first number for the file start with 200001, or 1000001. This will keep the same 'root' numbers, with filler in front. Mary will be almost the same file as before. Either before or after these tasks, you might want to go into the files, and change anyone in both files to the RIN in Joe. (use Ctrl-C) If a lot don't worry. You can then merge based on MERGE OPTIONS, SPECIAL DUPLICATE SEARCHES, middle one. If you only do one person, the program will find all the others anyway. This helps with people with no dates, etc. Use a number 10 times larger than either file, and when you are done merging, you can rerun re-use old numbers if desired. Good luck and don't forget to backup before, and when adding ID numbers, both. Rich in LA CA
