On the contrary, Marty, I respectfully disagree.

While I agree birth before marriage for adopted children is more likely
to be legitimate (pardon the pun) than with marriage, this *is* a
situation that *definitely* might be indicating an error.

We wouldn't want Legacy, for example, to blithely ignore a child's birth
date 100 years prior to the adoptive parents' marriage date. In my
opinion, we do NOT want Legacy to attempt to over-think the situation.
We want Legacy to flag the potential problems so that you and I can
eyeball each one.

Remember the real purpose of the Potential Problems list (in my opinion)
- to highlight the places to take a closer look. The problem might be
that the wrong child got connected to the wrong family; the problem
might be that something got mucked up in an Intellishare merge. The
problem might not be precisely what Legacy is flagging... but by taking
a close look with my own eyeballs, and with what I know of the actual
family situation, I can sort things out.

With a large, file, yes, it's painful to get things completely clean.

I seem to have mucked up my own file in correcting all locations to
standard format. I'm still thinking about that one; fortunately I do
fire off (control-B) backups before and after large "massaging" of the
file as a whole.

So, yes, cleaning up all the potential problems is major, or can be. At
the same time, though, I wouldn't want Legacy to arbitrarily decide
potential problems are to be ignored. In this case, the *usual*
situation is to have birth date after marriage date, even for adoptive
parents. Not always, to be sure, but that's what the *potential*
problems report is for.

My alternate opinion, for what it's worth,

 Ed
