Tony, As a fellow GMAIL user, I understand. When you compose new email to the group, your replies appear as if they remain in GMAIL's "Sent Mail" list and don't appear as a new email in your Inbox. I'm not sure why GMAIL does this. When someone replies, you see how it gets "moved" into the In Box. When you reply to an existing thread, GMAIL acts a little differently, but it still does not show up as a NEW piece of email.
If it makes you feel better, I thought the same thing too when I first started using GMAIL!
