I certainly agree with you that charts are the Achilles heel of Legacy but
in saying that I would not want to spoil the best program by having more
Charts or combing something like Tree draw into Legacy.
If you have Tree Draw Legacy you do not need Charting Companion they are
like chalk & cheese.

If you go to http://www.spansoft.org you can download a shareware version of
the program which works with GEDCOM files. If you like what you see you can
then BUY the Legacy version. I pretty much like the fact that you can import
tree "sections" and do what you like with them.

Now, can someone tell me whether Charting Companion is worth buying for
those quick tree outputs. The worst thing about Legacy is the reporting (I'm
sure I'm not alone on this.

Keith

Try Tree Draw Legacy. It is a lot easier to use than TMG and allows
pictures.

Importance: High

Please forgive me if this is a well worn subject!

I find Legacy 5 just too limited when it comes to nice descendant charts
and currently use The Master Genealogist for making charts ( I hate the
program for most other things, it is like molasses in January and not
pretty!). I really would like a good charting module that is flexible
but which works well without huge user input ( I am just lazy, I
guess!). I need to print these things out to send to aged relatives who
are not computer literate and they love the photographs that TMG sticks
in the chart (automatically). The Legacy Charting Companion just doesn't
cut it for me - it's brain dead and next to useless in my book!

I should be very grateful for any suggestions.

Thanks,
