If I am following you correctly, this is what I did to test/check.
1. Enter a child.
2. Entered the child's parents.
3. Go to View >> Parents List (parents of child)
4. Click "Add New Parents."
5. Added another set of parents. I also added yet another set of parents.
6. Now the child has *three* sets of parents. (Never mind why or how for
this experiment.)

The question is how to make one set "Preferred" ? Correct?

A. Highlight child
B. Go to View >> Parents List (parents of child)
C. Highlight the couple you want as preferred, and click Select.

Now the couple you have selected are the preferred parents for the child.

In the Ancestry chart I made, the highlighted set of parents is shown as
parents. This is the "preferred" parents.
In the Family Group Record I made, all three sets of parents are shown as
parents.

Is that what you are trying to do?

Robert

Lisa,
I see what you mean. With the spouses there is a button to "Set to
preferred". There is no such button for the parents. Would seem to be an
oversight on Millenia's part, but I don't know the history of the
development of the multiple parents functionality---just became a Legacy
user in '04.
Sherry, what is the thinking on not having that button for parents?
Thanks,

Thanks Steve. I think that is exactly what I'm doing.

But my point was that the preferred parents are so-called "set" by the
same procedure as viewing the parents. We should be able to permanently
set the preferred set for reports, and have that stick regardless of
which parents I last viewed as I was working with the file. At least, I
don't think we can do that.
