I am at my wit's end. I just do not understand how to merge two family
files. I have a GEDCOM that a distant cousin sent me that I want to merge
part of into mine. In hers, she has her husband's family as well as her
paternal line and maternal line. There are about 40,000 individuals in her
file. I want all of the relatives on just her paternal side. I have tried to
merge these files by exporting from one file to the other, but it does not
come out right. So I took two smaller files that I wanted to merge and can't
figure out how to merge them either. I have to keep undoing the merges.
Is there a simple easy-to-understand way to merge just what I want to? I
don't understand about tagging. How would I tag all the people in her
paternal line, which includes probably 25,000 people into mine? I want all
of them because we are related through multiple lines of descent on her
paternal side and my paternal side.
I need help bad.
