Hi Sharon,
As far as I can see, you can't edit charts made with Legacy Charting Companion. It makes some very pretty charts but I like the control that TreeDraw gives.

Legacy Charting Companion also doesn't do a Drop Down Descendant Chart - Generations go from left to right instead of top to bottom as my family expect.

It would be great it TreeDraw was easier to work with but it has a lot of tools once you learn to use them. You need to learn pretty quickly how to zoom in and out efficiently to move around a large chart.

I am using Legacy Charting Companion. There are many kinds of charts and books - the usual ancestor & descendant and fan, bow tie, hourglass, and more. The instruction book is simple to follow. I think you can look on the Legacy site and sview the types of charts they have. It uses your current Legacy file - no need to copy anything over to it.

I have just started using it, and have had my first chart printed at Kinko's by taking a cd with the PDF file created and giving them the measurements I used. They charged 50 cents per square foot, so it was fairly cheap, I thought. It's on 20 lb paper. I forget how wide they said they could do, but it was much wider than I needed - the length is pretty much unlimited. This chart was for the descendants of my grandmother - printed in font size 18 (for the older people) and 17" across by 56" long. It looks good. I called some smaller print shops, but they had limited width and one only had photogrphic paper - which would have been VERY expensive.

I printed the Wall Chart Printing Tips and was able to follow it and get the charts done for the descendants of each of my grandmothers siblings - one would have been 9 feet long if I had left it at font 18 - but decided that font 14 looked big enough.

Some people have been talking about making changes to the file once it's out there, but I haven't figured out how to do that. It creates a PDF-Xchange file - I can highlight data, but couldn't delete it. I printed locations, and it would be nice to be able to print the short location field instead, but didn't see an option for that.
