Hi Beverley,
I can't duplicate what I think you are trying to say.

You've assigned a source to several people using the Source Clipboard.
You've then gone to an individual's Assigned Sources List and edited the Source Detail to make a portion bold. When you've gone to the next person's Assigned Sources List, you've found the Source Detail has changed to bold the part you changed for the last person. It just doesn't work like that - however you assign it, the Source Detail is saved multiple times in the database - once for each use. The Master Source is saved once and a change in the Master Source will affect every use of the Master Source. But perhaps I've misunderstood you.

However, before you change the source detail in any way at all for each individual, think about how you want the source to appear on reports. If you change the Source detail or Source detail text in any way at all, you'll get multiple copies in the Source list in a report.

One of the reasons for using the Source Clipboard to assign the source for a Census is to make sure that the Source Detail section is identical for everyone in the household so that the Source only prints once. That's certainly a consideration for me.

Please write again if I've misunderstood you.
Cheers,
Cathy

Hi,

Can someone please help me?

I have Legacy 5 and about to upgrade to Legacy 6.

Today I tried (not for the first time) to use the Source Clipboard to assign
the same source (Census details) to a number of family members, including
Source Detail and Actual Source Detail Text.

Fine... wonderful... a great time saver... however, when I return to edit in
any way the Source Detail of each individual - e.g. to bold the name of that
particular individual, I find that as soon as I "bold" one name, it
automatically "bolds" the same source record of each family member. This
happens whether or not I leave the Source on the Clipboard or delete it
before returning later to edit.

Beverley Smith
