Dennis-

So far I cannot replicate this problem. I made a copy of my family file, and
worked on the copy trying to duplicate the problem, but it is working for
me. Now that you have mentioned it, I will watch for it.

Subject: [LegacyUG] Can anyone confirm this V6 problem???

I installed V6 (6.0.0.66) two days ago. This morning I noticed a problem. I
was hoping someone else might be able to confirm what I have found.

Let me start by saying that I have my options set to display Short Location
Names on screen views. I don't know if it has anything to do with the
problem
I am about to describe, but I thought I would mention it anyway.

I had an individual in my database with a birth location of...

long name: Topolyán, Zemplén, Hungary
short name: Topolyán

I verified this in the backup done the day before I started using V6.

Yesterday I added a burial photo, an Alt. Birth event, and several source
citations to this individual. I did not notice any anomalies at the time I
did
this, but have to admit I wasn't looking for any.

Today, when I opened the database to update something else, the family view
for this individual popped up with a birth location of Topolyán. No problem
since I have my options set to display short location names. Then I clicked
on
this person and opened up the Individual's Information window. The birth
location said Topolyán. I scratched my head for a second, thinking that I
should be seeing the long location name on this window. Then I opened the
Master Location List for this location and now find an entry for...

long name: Topolyán
short name: Topolyán

This location did not exist in my pre-V6 backup. I would have had no reason
to
change it when I made my updates yesterday.

It seems that all locations for the standard events (b,bap,d,bur) for this
individual now point to locations like the one above (new long name = old
short name) that weren't there two days ago. Two individuals were updated
yesterday and a total of 5 phantom locations are now present in this
database.

I also found 1 phantom location in another database I updated yesterday that
wasn't there two days ago. The only change I made to this individual was to
add an event.

Strangely, not every individual I have updated since installing V6 exhibits
this problem.

So I am asking interested V6 users who use different short and long location
names to take a quick look at their Master Location List to see if they see
anything strange. I would like to confirm that I am not the only person with
this problem.
