John - I would be interested in knowing how this goes as well as
corresponding with you off list to understand what you have migrated, how
you migrated it, and the various problem that you have encountered. Does you
plans or knowledge include Lindows? You know the "windows - redheaded
stepchild".

Subject: [LegacyUG] Linux and Legacy Family Tree

Greetings All,

Has anyone else been working with Legacy Family Tree under Linux??

I am working to get it running under the WINE Windows API Emulator (or
whatever one wants to call it - http://www.winehq.com ) and also under the
commercial application by Codeweavers called CrossOver Office for Linux -
http://www.codeweavers.com .

I'll report back here periodically on my progress (or lack thereof) in
case others are interested. If I get no response/interest from this list,
I will just keep my mouth (or keyboard) shut and not say anything, unless I
am totally successful.

I am not a programmer, but I do support Unix at work and have played with
Linux on and off for over 10 years, so I should be able to have reasonable
success with testing it out and getting it working. Some have had success
under CrossOver Office (CXO) but as far as I know, no one has attempted to
get Legacy 5.0 to work.

As an aside, I've migrated almost everything from Windows over to Linux
applications, but Legacy is a definite application I want to keep.

  Take care,

John
