Hello List:

This is a problem for me. I have relatives in Spain who use compound family names. I have been using the suffix position for the second surname, but that puts a , between the parts of the name like this:

Children from this marriage were:
36 M i. Don Alfonso Allen-Perkins, y Gurowski was born on 25 Feb 1873 in Paris, France
and died on 10 May 1950 in Granada, Spain at age 77.
Alfonso married Doña Trinidad Trujillo, y Delgardo (d. 1951) on 13 Feb 1895 in
Malaga, Spain.

37 M ii. Don Carlos Allen-Perkins, y Gurowski was born on 21 Jul 1874 in Paris, France
and died on 15 Jan 1929 in Madrid, Spain at age 54.
Carlos married Doña Maria de la Concepción de Pablo, y Garcia-Barzanallana
(b. 1 Jun 1874) on 9 May 1904 in Madrid, Spain.

Maria next married José Maria Diaz-Martin, y Torneria on 19 Nov 1886 in Malaga, Spain. José was born on 16 Aug 1835 in Malaga, Spain and died on 1 Dec 1917 in Malaga, Spain at age 82.

24. Fernando Francisco de Paula Luis Cajetano Ladislas, Gurowski, Marques de Bondan Real

And there is the question of where to place titles.

Regards,

Steven C. Perkins

May be you are talking about Spanish Americans with your comment here,
but there are people interrested in genelogy other places than where they
speak English and strangely enough there are still people in those countries
who don't know English.

It is a lot of work when you have relatives interrested on both side of
the pond, here they don't know English, there they don't know Norwegian,
so I need to do some translations whenever I send a report to my
relatives, be it here or there.
