I switched to Legacy a couple months ago from PAF and I appreciate that
Legacy gets updated quite frequently. I especially look forward to an update
to the "Source Detail Picture" operation. My PAF photos and Videos imported
into Legacy very neatly. I only have photos / videos of 20th and 21st
century people of course.
Sources also have their own separate place for photos. I have photos, (JPG)
of source ducuments, (birth, baptism, marriage, census, etc.). I rarely
added source photos in PAF because PAF's viwer didn't zoom so it was of
liitle use. Legacy source photos, (jpg) are displayed very nicely.
HOWEVER, my largest, most important source is an online, paid subscription
for which I have over 1000 htm pages saved. These all imported from PAF but
without multimedia so I have begun to attach the htm pages to the source
using the sound icon as discussed on this group. It is tedious and time
consuming but it is much better done than not. I also have some PDF, Word
and Excel sources.
I definitely would expect Legacy to support such sources properly but when?
Does anyone really have any Sound or Video files as event sources? I just
can't imagine how or what as an example. Right now I like the way the
Individual and marriage sources page displays a "Picture" icon right under
the "Source Detail Picture words and know that if the icon is colored there
is a picture of the event source. When I click on a colored icon and get a
gallery page of 20 slots, (19 empty and one with a Sound Icon) it is a big
dissapointment.
I would like to hear from Legacy support if this feature might soon be
changed and if so would such inputting of htm, pdf, doc and xls to the sound
icon have to be redone? Also from any users who may have actual sound or
video files as sources.
Thank you,
