Well, it just had a bullet with a blank line beside it. The second line
started with the text just like the first line does now. It was probably a
minor problem, but it was bothering me, so I decided to fix it.
Along the way, I learned all sorts of valuable information!

Gail,
Very cool! I really like the look of the TNG site - it is so clean and
easy
to read. It is really appealing. I take it that before you zapped all
the
blank lines that the spacing was really off.

Carol, Dennis answered the part about carriage returns. As for my web
site,
I currently have two.
I have the old site, generated using Legacy, in which the blank lines are
not a problem. The events look just like they do in reports. I plan to
phase this site this eventually, however. Here is an example of one
ancestor's page:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~nestorgenealogy/345.html
My new web site is generated via an outside company called TNG. In this
case, though, you still won't see the yucky blank lines because Brian has
already kindly zapped them via Access so that the formatting now looks
good.
Here is that same ancestor's page in the new site:
http://www.roots2buds.net/getperson.php?personID=I345&tree=nestor
I highly recommend using the carriage return formatting in Legacy instead
of
inserting a blank line. Then you will not have a problem on web pages
either way.
By the way, I love the new web site because it functions very much like a
database. However, the primary drawbacks (as I see them) are that I lose
my
event sentences and my short location names. I am still planning a lot of
customization, but see what you think.

Gail,
I am just getting started with Legacy and have been entering a blank line
at
the beginning of my event notes as recommended by the training CDs. I see
that you are unhappy with the result, and I don't want to get in the
position that you are in now with over 19,000 events to edit.
Could you provide a link to your website so that I can see the problem
that
this is causing?
And this is probably a really stupid question, but could you tell me how
you
insert a carriage return in the event definition?
Thanks so much,
Carol
