Elizabeth, et al,

I went ahead and bought Legacy (v. 6.0.0.82) tonight
and loaded my RM GEDCOM, 10,000 person database. So
far, I've noticed:

During the import
-Adoptions, children - those with 2 parents had the
note entered in the date field, about 30 instances
(all of these had been imported from an earlier FTM
GedCom and I probably haven't gotten around to
cleaning them up in RM)

Brief review of data, particular notes shows <i> and
<b> inserts for italic and bold fonts coming in from
RM.

There were no unrecognized items and the error file
seems to have about 25 addresses it didn't like.

*****
Then I imported a FTM 2006 GedCom. I wasn't given an
option to make any selections or alterations for FTM.

As a result, all the FTM <place/description> fields
ended up in Legacy's <place> field. WHAT A MESS!

This is the primary reason I bought Legacy. I thought
it would separate place and description. HELP!

2 Unrecognized items: _HEIG and _WEIG
-Wasn't sure what they were so I created an event for
this tag. No data was imported so I'll have to go back
to the FTM file to see what this is about. 5 items,
no problem.

Nothing in the error log.

I've only had the program for a couple of hours ... so
I really haven't looked at everything!

*****
I haven't really researched wall charts outside of RM
so I don't know what I'll end up using. I'm still in
data entry and review mode. RM doesn't put
unnecessary ","s in the boxes in charts. Plus I can
edit the contents of the boxes. Also, I can add up to
8 facts/events to include in the boxes ... such as
occupation and medical.
