One thing to consider as to why you close your browser, reopen and not add
to the counter is because a lot of counters use the cookies. For example if
you have logged in within a half hour of the current login it may recognize
it and not add it to the counter.

I just tried it out, and the counter doesn't go up as I click on
distinct pages. On the other hand, it doesn't go up when I shut down
the browser, restart, and visit again, either, so go figure. On the
whole, though, the counter at my site has gone up reasonably
slowly--about what I would expect in the years it has been there.
