Did you ask for an "impossible" combination of settings or perhaps stop the 
chronology to try and change settings? Do you have very large source picture 
files linked to your father? Try deleting the chron.usr file and allow it to 
be recreated.

Hope that one of the Legacy picture experts will answer because source 
pictures do not seem to have the "picture reduction" option to control 
quality that is available for custom event pictures.
