Sorry for the delay in replying, computer problems kept me offline for the past week.

The following is the answer that I prepared to a similar question that was asked at the Melbourne Legacy User Group some time ago.

The procedures have been written in some detail in order to help those who are not yet familiar with navigating their way around Legacy. Once mastered, the procedures can for used for a variety of other tasks.

In your case, you can include Picture: Caption, Picture: Date and Picture: Description in addition to Picture: Filename mentioned below and remember to place a tick opposite these extra items in the "Optional Fields" screen.

If you want the list in alphabetical order just click on the word "Surname" at the top of the Search List before printing.

QUESTION - How do I print a list of people that have pictures/photos attached to them?

ANSWER
Some Preliminary Instructions.
As always, make a backup of your Family file and Multimedia files before you commence this procedure. To state the obvious, to produce this list you must have previously have attached some pictures in Legacy. Read through the instructions before you start to get an idea of what you are about to do.
The first part that follows is a quick method of creating the list.
The second part gives the procedure for printing the list, but requires you to chose a Tag number which is not being used for anything else. If you intend to print the list do this now, otherwise go straight to QUICK METHOD -

To do this now -
Click on "Edit" (up at the top of the screen)
Click on "Tag Records"
In the resulting window, click on the circle beside "Untag" (this places a dot in it) Now, beside "Make changes on #", click on the arrows to reach the number you wish to use.
Now click on "Everyone"
In the "Delete All Tags?" window that comes up, answer "Yes" to the question "Are you sure you want to clear all the number X tags in your family file?
This ensures you clear any Tag X from any previous use of the Tag X.
Now click on "Tags to show" (the box at the bottom right)
Chose any of 1st Tag, 2nd Tag or 3rd Tag, click on the small down arrow and click on the number X you want to chose. This will ensure you can see the chosen Tag number on the screens we will use later. To remind you what you used this number for, it is a good idea to type in a title opposite "Tag X". (Once you have finished with any of these Tags, you can always reset them and use them again for something different later)
Click "Save".
In the "Advanced Tagging Screen" click "Close"

QUICK METHOD
Go to "Index " view (one of the tabs near the top of the screen)
Click on "Options" (over on the right of the screen)
Click on "Customise Columns".
Click on the top square with 3 dots in it.
The list that comes up allows you to set up columns for many different items.
Scroll to "RIN" then click "Select".
RIN will appear in the field list.
Click on the next line down and repeat the procedure, but this time choose "Full Name" from the list. Click on the next line down and repeat the procedure, but this time choose "Picture: Filename" from the list.
If you do want to print the list later, set up another column now.
Click on the next line down and repeat the procedure, but this time choose "Tag X" where X is the Tag number you choose to use. If you had any other items listed before you started and don't want them, highlight what you don't want and click "Delete" over on the right of the screen, that takes them off the list. If by chance you got any out of order, highlight the one you want to move and click either the up or down "Move" arrow on the right of the screen.
Now "Close" the "Index View Columns" window.

Now you have a list of everyone in your database and those with photos will have the photo file name opposite them. If you double click on a person with a photo, it takes you straight to that person, click on the photo icon and you will see what photos you have attached. You could at this stage just work your way through the list and do whatever you want to do.

PRINT THE LIST
If you want to print a list of only the people you have photos for you must Tag them. Go down the "Index" view list and double click in column "TX" for each person with a photo (this marks it as tagged)
Now click on "Name List" (the icon up near the top of the screen)
The Tag number you chose should be showing on the screen (because you set it earlier)
Now click on "Search" (Down near the bottom of the screen)
Click on "Show all Tagged"
Click on "Tag X Individuals"
You now have a list of only people with photos.

Click on "Print" (at the bottom of the screen)
In the resulting window click on the tab "Options"
The items on this window are mainly concerned with cosmetic changes to how the list will look when it is printed. You can remove any ticks that are present by clicking on the square or click on a blank square to add a tick to it. (Try out different choices)
Now click on the tab "Row 1"
Under "Grid Fields", place a tick in the "RIN" and "Surname, Given Names" squares and remove all other ticks.
Now click "Customise"
In the "Custom Display Screen", on the first line, click on square with 3 dot it.
In the resulting list scroll down to "Picture: Filename" and click on it.
Then click on "Select".
If any of the other lines have a name in them, click on the square with 3 dots, scroll right to the top of the list and click on "blank - display nothing"
Now in the "Custom Display" window click "Close"
You are now back in the "List Report Options" window
Under "Optional Fields" place a tick in the square beside "PicName"
Make sure you have a dot in "Screen/Printer" in the "Report Destination" rectangle down in the bottom right of the screen.
Now click "Preview" top right of screen.
If you are happy with the result, click "Print" top right hand corner of the screen.
That's it. (It takes a lot longer to write the instructions than to do it!)

Good luck - Bruce Tweedley

I am trying to obtain an alphabetical listing within Legacy of everyone
in my file with a picture attached. Besides name, the list would
preferably include picture file ID number, caption, description, and
date.

I can get a listing sorted by Picture File ID which includes name and
RIN using the File ID Report, but I cannot find a way to get a listing
sorted alphabetically.

The purpose of the alphabetical listing is to show each individual and
each photograph on file for that individual.

Note: I would prefer not purchasing/using a separate program like Clooz.
With all of the other report formats available within Legacy, it would
seem reasonable this style of list would be possible.

Has anyone had any luck creating an alphabetical photo listing within
Legacy?

Thanks in advance for your help.
