Pat,
In England, b/m/d dates are reported on a calendar quarterly basis to the
GRO. A "Q date" is recorded as the [month] Q, [year] where the month is the
last month of the particular calendar quarter. The date is not precise date
of
the event, but the quarter in which the event was **reported** to the GRO.
There is a pitfall here as informants have 6 weeks to report the event.
Thus, an event might have occured in the quarter preceeding the quarter of
registration.
