When writing about things, it's generally a good idea to first know what
one is talking about.

OpenJDK is an ORACLE-sponsored project. Other firms contribute to it,
including Twitter, IBM, SAP, Apple, RedHat, and AMD.
In fact, Oracle has made OpenJDK 7 the reference implementation of Java7
and then for Java8 with OpenJDK 8 too. Oracle programmers contribute code
to OpenJDK and OpenJDK is the basis for the commercial and freeware builds
of Oracle JDK.

It's not a re-implementation, it's the official Open Source implementation
of Java.
