Hello, The company I work for plans to create and distribute a modified version of Ubuntu OS, containing two different profiles.
Mozilla Firefox would be included in it, and from what I understood from its distribution policy, there is no restriction to do this if it remained unchanged. However, the problem is that one of these profiles would be used in 'kiosk mode', with Firefox customized to hide toolbars and buttons, a different home page, and all references to Mozilla Firefox brand (both texts and icons) replaced by something generic, like "Web browser" or something similar. All these changes would probably be done with an addon and changing the preferences in one profile, to avoid changing Firefox for the other profile, where it would remain exactly as 'out of the box'. In addition, this unchanged profile would only be accessible to people from my company, never to the client, who would always see the unbranded web browser. To sum up, Firefox trademark would only be visible where it remains unchanged (and only for people of the company), while it would disappear from the modified and 'public' profile. Would this be OK according to Mozilla distribution and trademark policies? Thanks in advance! _______________________________________________ legal mailing list [email protected] https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/legal
