Hi All

Thank you Thomas for the suggestion re a previous thread in the discussion group: creating the symbolic link to /dev/lego0  has improved the situation somewhat, but it is still not a complete solution for my installation.

Now, when it tries to download a program, the RCX beeps ultimately four times and then the download program reports an error code of -4, which trolling through the code seems to indicated "No response from the RCX ". Given that the RCX is beeping it seems to have heard the request to download but the response message is not being received. The four beeps I would guess are an attempt to initiate a download on each of the 4 retries.

To eliminate the possibility of  corrupted VM in the brick, I attempted to re-download the firmware: it starts, counts the first 20 bytes and then dies. Output is 'resource temporarily unavailable'

Setting things back to the serial tower things work as expected.

Any suggestions on where to go with this one?

Best Regards
