Has anyone used the compass sensor from HiTechnic with
Lejos. It seems I have to re-calibrate it every time
I power on. I that due to Lejos? Not a big deal. I
just download multiple pgms ( pgm-0 being the
calibration pgm).

Otherwise it works very well. I use one rotation
sensor as the odometer and use the compass sensor for
turning as well as maintaining a straight line. Most
of the code was from the examples in Brian Bagnall's
book. I can plot coordinates and the vehicle will
turn and go in a straight line to each coordinate.
Very precise. When I place obstacles in the vehicles
path, an "Avoid Obstacle" behavior kicks in.
Eventually the vehicle will find its way to the
planned coordinates. The only downside to the
compass is that there are some areas in my house where
the compass is off by thirty degrees ( due to duct
work under the floor I presume).

Still, very cool. Thanks Brian for a great book. So
what's the NXT version of Lejos going to be like?

David
