I am not a Master with Icommand, Java & Eclipse, but I configure NXT brick with the option: "NEVER TURN OFF" and if you run Several Icommand Programs in your session, You shouldn't worry by the BT connection.
I use Belkin USB Bluetooth adapter F8T009. I recommend you to read the following Article: http://nxtsharp.fokke.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=2 I read it, and I noticed that I had to install drivers of Belkim device, then My Bluetooth dongle run better. Before I used Windows XP Bluetooth Drivers Before installing Belkin's Drivers my BT connections went better because all BT connections last very much. Now, when I run Icommand program, BT connection opens automatically. My performance improved. Besides now ECLIPSE waits until my BT connections open. Before, I had to test COMport everytimes, now all is very easy. I dont have to edit icommand.properties. I think that the secret of the BT connection is BLUETOOTH MANAGER that you install with the BT dongle.
