OK - here is a start:

Lejos NXJ (a very preliminary alpha version) can be downloaded from
http://lejos.sourceforge.net/
As of 28 Feb, the development version (not yet available for download,
but perhaps soon) has all the basic capabilities of Lejos for the RXC
except for the communications. The Sound class can play tones, the
LCD can print text and integers and also draw lines and circles. All
the Sensors classes produce useful data: Light, Touch, Sound,
UltraSonic, and Compass. The Motor class incorporates its rotation
sensor. It is actually a servo class: can accurately control speed (in
degrees/sec), and rotate the motor to a specified angle with an
accuracy of better than +- 2 deg. The Motor class stops smoothly
(without the overshoot and back up that the Lego firmware exhibits),
and accelerates smoothly so wheels do not skid. A new class Pilot
controls vehicle movement: direction, speed, and turning rate (if the
vehicle has uses differential steering of two motors) and movement
distance (linear and angular). The Navigator class, in addition to
everything the Lejos Navigator does, can control the robot travel in a
circular arc and keep track of its position and heading angle as it
does.
Some progress on the Bluetooth communications front has begun.
(Bluetooth is much more complicated than the RCX IR) We still do not
have anything like an operating system. A program downloaded via USB
executes immediately, and then the NXT quits. But for me it?s better
than the IR download for the RXC.
