Brian was anticipating a new version of lejos NXJ being out by the time his
book was released, but we are having some problems, and the new release is not
out yet. This is some information from Brian on the forums on the lejos web
site on how to set up the 0.2 alpha release for Eclipse.
The next release will flash the lejos NXJ firmware. The 0.2 alpha release runs
the Java VM in ram, so you have to do lejosdl for each run.
The next version will also include PC tools that work over USB and Bluetooth -
you will not need iCommand for uploading and running programs, managing files,
etc. I am not sure if user program communication over Bluetooth will make it
into the release or not.

I bought the Maximum Lego NXT: Building Robots with Java Brains and I am
trying to setup the development environment.
These are the files I downloaded for my installation:
- jdk-1_5_0_11-windows-i586-p.exe
- lejos_NXJ_win32_0_2_0alpha.zip
- eclipse-SDK-3.2.2-win32.zip
I installed the Java SDK and added the JAVA_HOME variable pointing to the
"j2sdk1.4.2_14" folder , also I added to the PATH the reference to the bin
folder "\j2sdk1.4.2_14\bin". I unzipped the leJOS and the Eclipse and I added
the LEJOS_HOME variable and the PATH reference to the leJOS bin
"\lejos_nxj\bin".
In chapter 2 the book describes the steps and parameters to use in the setup
process for the external tools COMPILE (lejosjc.bat) and DOWNLOAD
(lejosdl.bat), but there is not reference for the LINK(lejoslink.bat) external
tool set up and I don't know what to add to the ${java_type_name}.XXXX argument
for the LINK setup.
Also, Do I need to install the iCommand to communicate via BT the PC and the
NXT? If, so what files and process do I need to follow?
