My thing is that the robot just doesnt do anything. it is still, and before
dying it rotates a little bit. I might try the thing about sleep n the
Motor.B(-10, false) .
I still want to know why it doesnt move at all.
Thanks

Hi Bindiya,
I think you have misunderstood what Motor.B.rotate(10, true) does. It tells the
Motor to rotate forwards 10 degress, but to return control before it has
completed. The effect of your program is that both motors keep going forward,
whatever the value returned from getDistance().
If instead, you do:
Motor.B.rotate(-10, false)
it will makes the Motor rotate back 10 degrees and wait until it completes.
This is more likely to be what you want. 10 degrees of a wheel rotation is a
very small turn. You probably want something larger than that.
It is a good idea to put some diagnostics in your program so you can see what
getDistance returns, e.g:
int dist = sonic.getDistance();
LCD.drawInt(dist,3,0,0);
LCD.refresh();
if (dist > 20) { ...
It is also a good idea to put a delay in your loop as the Ultrasonic sensor can
fail if getDistance is called too frequently with no delay.
For example, add:
Thread.sleep(200);

I modified the program but it still doesnt work:
import lejos.nxt.*;
import lejos.subsumption.*;
import lejos.navigation.*;
public class FollowWall
{
static final int TOTALTIME = 60000;
public static void main(String[] args) throws Exception {
UltrasonicSensor sonic = new UltrasonicSensor(SensorPort.S2);
int startTime = (int)System.currentTimeMillis();
int totalTime = 0;
while(totalTime < TOTALTIME) {
if(sonic.getDistance() > 20)
Motor.B.rotate(10,true);
else
{
Motor.B.forward();
Motor.C.forward();
}
totalTime = (int)System.currentTimeMillis() - startTime;
}
}
}
Please help
Thanks

Bindiya,
I'm not sure your declaring your new sensor correctly. Check the API but all of
the code examples I've seen from the book and the VP website go something like
this:
static UltrasonicSensor us = new UltrasonicSensor(SensorPort.S3);
etc...
Try changing sonic to us and S2 to S3.
Good luck,
Andrew
