PowerBook 1400cs 166MHz/42MB/1.3GB/CD-ROM/Floppy Module/800 x 600 LCD/45W AC Adapter/OS 9.1
This PowerBook was recently given to me to recycle but upon powering it up, I found it to be in such excellent condition that I couldn't mulch it without seeing if anyone could make use of it first. Everything works and the battery holds a charge 1½ hrs. It has two PCI slots, a SCSI HDI-30 port and room for an expansion card with a port (like an ethernet port). It was running OS 8.0 but I upgraded it to OS 9.1 and installed a few applications to see what it could do. With a Lucent wireless card (removed from a graphite AirPort base station) it can access the internet using Internet Explorer 5. There are, evidently, ways to upgrade it to G3 CPU speeds. It cannot, however, run any version of OS X. The computer is free; S/H UPS Ground from 90027 is $30.
