This adapter will allow you to use a Compact flash card instead of a 1.8" IDE hard drive in a 4th generation ipod. This is great because it removes all moving parts from your ipod (no skipping!), can increase battery life, and reduces the overall weight of your ipod.
I removed this from an ipod before I sold it, and it was working just fine before I sold it. I had been using an 8gb Lexar CF card, but most recent CF cards will work.
