Hey all, This is one of the most painful messages I have ever written, but it has to be done...
The time I spend coding/animating and on software on new macs makes it impossible for me to continue "using" my old macs. Rather than they fall on dis-service (since well, if you don't use it they do go bad!) or throw them in to a landfill I would rather have a mac connoisseur take care of these really valuable items: 1. One editing video workstation from 1996. This will allow you to edit in Quicktime 7 Standard Definition! A true workhorse for several thousand dollars for its time: - PowerMac 8100/80 Av with a - Radius Telecast (video capturing and video output board/set-top box) - Radius Array (video-capturing hard disks in RAID-0) SCSI! Imagine that! - Original Keyboard and Mouse I am the original owner and have replaced the motherboards several times to keep it churning! This was my first professional video-editing capable mac (and it was the first mac capable of editing video!) *$200 + shipping * 2. 1 Apple Workgroup Server 95 with Manuals and 3 Quadras 950 (for replacement items! you can strip the Quadras for parts to keep the server working!) This is a very rare mac to find! Seriously, VERY RARE to find! NO shipping box *$200 + shipping* 3. 1 PowerBook duo 2300c with: - 1 Duo Dock (in original box!!!) - 1 duo mini dock *$100 + Shipping* 4. 1 Macintosh COLOR Classic with carry-on bag *$125 + Shipping* 5. 2 Macintosh Classic IIs in original boxes and with original manuals and keyboards. *$75 each + shipping* 6. Networking hardware, all the above are network ready and I can provide Localtalk adapters and cables! [For the bold, you can network this, have the server talk to an ethernet bridge and firewall and have this network connect to the internet. The firewall is very important as all of this hardware is VERY vulnerable to hacks if you connect it directly to the internet].*Free with purchase * 7. Newton MessagePad 130 NO Shipping box. *$50 + Shipping* Now a couple of things: These items all WORK. But obviously, you have to take good care of them, and if you don't know what you are doing you may have a hard time getting the most juice out of them or may not be able to "fix" them if they need tweaks or something. For example, the capacitors in the Macintosh Classics IIs may soon need replacing as they have started to leak, which means, that the macs make a high pitch sound when started (but operate normally with regular sound). This problems goes away if you pull the logic boards out, put them on a dishwasher, let them dry for a day and put them back in. The real fix would be someone capable of re-soldering new capacitors in. I could probably do it, but I no longer have the time Obviously if you put these items on your closet (since I already neatly packed them) and forget them for a year or two, it will be bad for both, the owner and the items, since these Macs need to be fired up every once in a while to keep them in working condition... otherwise clock batteries will empty, capacitors may leak, and hard disks may become sticky. If somebody is interested, or knows somebody that is, let me know. I am advertising these in other mac-sites, but if I find no home for them, sadly, will have to go to the land fill. Let me know if you are interested, all of this is in San Francisco, CA. Thanks for looking! 1984 AND 1994 were NOT like "1984" with these!
