Condition of this Laptop: This laptop previously was pretty much beaten up and I have re-conditioned it to make it work again. Both display hinges were broken and had to be fixed. Some traces from that surgery are still visible. The hinges are tight now and the lid opens and closes smooth and easy. The latch locks nicely. The display is bright but shows a vertical stripe of dead pixels across the screen. I repeat: There is a vertical line of bright pixels across the display !! There are some quite visible scratches in the silver finish of the Titanium case - mainly on the bottom. I added some missing rubber feet. The charger had a broken wire. It is properly soldered and insulated. The connector was bent and had to be straightened. It is still a bit stiff to plug and unplug but works properly. The PRAM battery had to be replaced because the Powerbook forgot its time and date when it was without power supply for a while. Now it works well again. The main battery is pretty much at the end of its life. It holds charge only for a few minutes. I have thoroughly tested most functions of this powerbook which are: - Basic functions like booting, sleeping, battery charging, shutdown, restart, waking up and fan cooling. - Network functions like Ethernet, Airport WIFI and Firewire. - Audio In/out - Microphone & Speakers - Video out VGA & S-Video - Modem dial up - CD & DVD playing (several different region codes - can always be reset with REGION X utility.) - both USB & the firewire port -PCMCIA slot tested with USB card Not tested is the IRDA interface due to lack of test equipment. Apple Hardware test was passed without any indications. Booted it with MAC OS 9.2.2, MAC OS 10.2 and TIGER. Sometimes it started into Open Firmware but the "MAC-BOOT" command always directed it to the intended Start volume and a successful boot. Overall this Powerbook is in a good working condition! If you don´t mind the stripe across the display, the worn battery and the cosmetic blemishes this Powerbook is still a valuable well working computer. MAC OS 10.4.11 "Tiger" is installed right now for testing purposes. I will have to downgrade it to 9.2.2 or 10.2 before shipping in order to comply with the LEM swap rules. Let me know which system you want - I also can make a hybrid installation with both systems installed on different partitions. Sorry-I don´t have any install disks with it. I have pictures available. I am asking $130 shipped in CONUS via USPS insured Parcel Post. Offers welcome. PayPal preferred. Ships from New Mexico 88325 Thanks for checking Roland Carstaedt
