I have a Macintosh Portable Non-Backlit model. This worked (mostly, more on this later), last time I booted it successfully. The problem is, I don't have a good battery for it, and the battery I*was* using died from lack of use. It has a 40MB HDD, which contains System 6.0.8L (freely available from Apple) and a few freeware/shareware apps. Unfortunately, due to the fact that I can't boot it or read floppies, I cannot wipe the HDD. The floppy drive does not read or write, although it may just need a good cleaning. Also, the ESC key on the keyboard has come desoldered, although it appears that it could be fixed easily. I believe that this Portable could be restored to full health in a week or so, but it would be necessary to acquire some parts. Here is what I *believe* it needs:
-New floppy drive -New battery *or *AC adapter that can power it -Soldering on ESC key -A good home :-) Since this is in overall good condition, but it needs some work, I'm listing it AS-IS at $20. -- Matt Rhinesmith Arvada, CO 80005 Sent from my questionably mysterious sometimes-black hole of doom!
