I'm just not getting much use of this machine any more. I might as well pass it on to someone who will use it, since it still works and I don't like seeing working computers go to waste. There are some flaws, though:
-The DVD-ROM drive is awful for reading data CDs or DVDs. Expect to keep the machine upside-down for it to read at all. Audio CDs and video DVDs don't seem to suffer from this and can be read just fine when upright. -The CCFL backlight's starting to pink out. It warms up within 30 seconds, but the total brightness is relatively low and will start to go pink again if below max brightness-even one notch. -The main battery I got with it is almost useless. 9 to 12 minutes of life. You can use it as a built-in UPS, but unless you're willing to find a replacement, it's better to treat it as a G3 iMac with an LCD monitor. -Something's off about the 3.5mm speaker/headphone jack. The sound isn't quite like the internal speakers or any of my other systems-it's as if some of the frequencies are subdued or something. -There are cracks above and below the trackpad button on the casing. The IrDA port cover is also missing. -With the particular Hitachi TravelStar hard drive I installed, FireWire Target Disk Mode will not work-it just shuts back off. I could revert back to the original Fujitsu 6 GB HDD, but I figure that most people would prefer the extra space and lack of noise. Despite all of this, it is fully functional, if a bit slow with the 400 MHz G3 and lack of Quartz Extreme-compliant graphics for OS X, but people don't buy Pismos for speed these days. It would probably make a good typewriting machine if one were to give it some new main batteries. Accessories include a Chinese-made Apple yo-yo AC adapter and a Targus laptop bag it fits in that I'm not using. If the buyer doesn't have OS CDs to use with it, I can include a set of OS 9.2.1 and OS X 10.2 Jaguar discs. $125 or best offer.
