I used this Maxtor 1.5GB external RAID hard drive for weekly Time Machine backups for 18 months. The case has never been opened, but I understand that two 750GB Seagate drives are inside. It's not big enough now, so I'm selling it and upgrading. The drive has one USB 2.0 port, two FireWire 800 ports and one Firewire 400 port. It works perfectly and is Macintosh and PC compatible. It's advertised as having user configurable RAID 0 and RAID 1 capability. I think I've been running in the default RAID 0 mode, where data is split across both drives for better performance. If you want it switch it to RAID 1 (mirroring), that might be changed via the Maxtor software that I never loaded. Included will be a USB 2.0 and FireWire 400 cable. Unused Maxtor OneTouch III disks and Retrospect for Macintosh and Windows is included.
