So I bought a mac mini back in 2009 with AppleCare Protection, but I never registered it with Apple, or associated it with my serial number. The APP is still new in the shrink-wrapped box. Now, the Mac is more than a year old, so I can't apply it now, and I don't have plans to buy a new mini in the near future.
