I help run a community computer center and library, run out of a county park (of which I'm president of the advisory board) that is associated with a 501(c)3 foundation. The community center's library and computer center offers free services run by volunteers, and has been a TOTAL Windows shop for seven or more years, courtesy of the Gates Foundation. But the computers are long in the tooth, and I'm pushing for Intel Macs for our first major upgrade, which will take place this month.

Our budget cannot afford to buy the iMacs I would prefer. We are going to go for two Mac minis, and scrape around for accessories.

UNLESS you wish to help. Donations would be appreciated, and are tax deductible.

So I'm looking for

1. iMacs, Intel-based, any in working condition and looking good.

2. Minis, Intel-based, any in working condition and looking good.

If we get the latter, or have to buy the latter new, we'll need

3. Two USB keyboards for Mac. Nice condition. Can't be grimy.

4. Two mice, same condition. I'd prefer the Magic Mouse or trackpad. Great products.

Further,

5. external optical drive burner would be great, as would

6. external Firewire/Thunderbolt hard drive backup drive

and, ideally,

7. an original iSight camera, and a good

8. Scanner.

9. Parallels software for Mac, compatible with Lion, and a legal copy of Windows appropriate to a modern dualboot Mac. And other software that you might think a community center would like. (If someone wants to donate Photoshop or Final Cut, for instance, that would be TERRIFIC!)

10. Adapters for VGA and DVI monitors.

And an Intel-based MAC PRO would be best!

We may consider a G5 if someone has a nice G5 desktop for free, too. But it would be an extra computer and not a major part of the upgrade, considering that these computers' forward life in terms of software upgrades are limited.

I have bought sold on this list for some time. I don't like begging, but our budget is strapped. Sorry. I saw nothing in the FAQ prohibiting it. And I assure you, donors will receive a receipt from a registered 501(c)3 foundation, suitable for tax purposes.

Any help would be appreciated. We will pay shipping, if you are willing to donate working equipment.

I have some old Mac items of a wide variety in case someone has something they'd like to swap, instead of donate. No tax-usable receipt for that, though.

Some basic information about the park and library can be found at

This is a good cause. And you will be helping to proselytize Mac in a heavily Windows-centric community. Onward and upward!
