Vintage Apple PowerBook 170 - Powers on, Works Good...
SPECS (as indicated): 8 MB RAM, 165 MB hard drive, floppy drive. It has "RAM doubler" software installed. I do not know if that means it has 4 MB doubled to 8MB or 8MB doubled to 16 MB, but assume the former. System 7 is installed and a ton of apps are included (since this is all now freeware, I assume I am not violating swaplist rules by not wiping this drive): Photoshop 3.0 (confirmed), PageMaker, Calendar maker, Aldus Works, Claris Works, Office (Word, and Excel confirmed), Filemaker Pro, Netscape Navigator, and many more. Apps indicated as "confirmed" above were opened - all others are listed as being on the hard drive. It is cosmetically in very good condition. The rear port door is missing. It has an industrial-strength handle/flip stand attached -- it is extremely heavy duty hardware and does exactly what it is intended to do (photo available). Everything appears to work, but not all functions or ports were tested. The only noticeable flaw is that after extended use, a dark "halo" begins to appear emanating from the corners of the screen (I can send photos) and grows slowly over time if the screen is not in active use. My research tells me this is common, and a screen-saver helps alleviate this. There may be a screen-saver on this PowerBook, but I did not find one. The battery appears to take a slight charge, but is not guaranteed. Sorry, but an AC adapter is not included. As vintage hardware, this computer is sold AS IS, as described, with no returns. As stated, I have described this to the best of my ability, and it is assumed that the buyer knows more about this model of vintage Apple computer than I do! $45 shipped CONUS, $50 if choosing Priority Mail, which would then also ship to Alaska, Hawaii, PR and USVI.
