I have a Macintosh Portable. I wired up a fresh battery in there, got a power
adapter that works finally. Now the internal hard drive (which is ancient)
spins up and sounds like it's reading. But it won't let me format it. I think
it's toast.

So I need a new one. However it's this weird thing with a 25-pin connector on
the motherboard. I cannot find any sort of 25-pin to 50-pin internal SCSI
cables out there. I also cannot find any smaller-profile type drives that would
seem to work for this. Somebody please help.

I mean ideally someone could hook me up with a compactflash drive that would
work off the SCSI and boot. But some old hard drive would also be fine as long
as it works. Please, let me know what you might have, I would greatly
appreciate it. Just trying to get this old girl up and going again.

It boots fine from floppy or external hard drives so I know it works. But I'm
pretty sure I destroyed the internal hard drive myself when I accidentally
removed its protective cover... exposing the platters to the air for a few
seconds... please help thanks.
