I just upgraded the airport card in my MacBook 1,1 and now have the
original b/g card to dispose of, Model No. ARBXB6, marked as (C) 2006
Apple Computer, Inc. It has two antenna connectors.
It works, but with this caveat: Besides wanting to get Wireless-N, I had
a problem with this card working inconsistently. From what I've read,
this is a common problem related to heat inside the MacBook. It would
work all around the house when the computer was cold, but after warmed
up from use it would lose the connection unless I was close to the wifi
router. Though I used to find that it always worked fine with an older
Wireless B router we used to have at our office (which for a long time
had me wondering if it was my b/g router at home or the wifi card that
was the problem). From a bit of online reading, it sounds like other
computers that can use this card don't have this problem because of the
arrangement of their parts. I've read about people putting it into PCs
that have a mini-PCIe slot, for example.
Anyhow -- I'm looking for $12 shipped (via First Class mail), anywhere
in the USA. Payment accepted via PayPal.
