Hello swappers,
I have one iPhone first generation (2G "EDGE" GSM), running a fresh install of
iOS 3.1.3, the highest version for this phone, with Redsn0w enabled
installations of Cydia (i.e., it is jailbroken) and BootNeuter (unlocker).
These phones are unlockable and jailbreakable pretty much at will. The
original 2G iPhones are perfect for using on tMobile--you won't get 3G on
tMobile even with an iPhone 3 or 4 due to frequency differences from AT&T, and
so EDGE is as good as it gets. They are also very useful for traveling abroad,
where the smart ticket is to buy a local SIM instead of paying AT&T
$3.99/minute, and forcing all your foreign friends to call your USA number in
order to ring you at the hotel. I have used this phone in Estonia, Finland,
Germany, and Copenhagen with no problems. If you wait until you go abroad to
buy a phone, you'll certainly spend more than $50 on buying a local el cheapo
GSM phone that can take a prepaid SIM card. Besides, wouldn't you rather not
have to search for a phone store during your precious vacation time, only to
buy a phone that will be useless once you return to the USA, and probably
useless (i.e. SIM-locked to country of purchase) if you cross to a second
country? And when you get back, this phone is at least an iPod, or you can
even use a VOIP app to make phone calls on it from your WiFi network with out a
SIM. I have used it to make conference calls with Line2's VOIP app, in order
to save minutes on my AT&T Family Plan and keep my 3GS open for other incoming
calls.
The (very limited) bad: there are some scratches on the back due to skittering
across the concrete once, but the camera lens is unscratched. The screen has
minor, very hard to see scratches from normal use. No dents. A cheap plastic
case can be included.
The good: I'm asking $49 plus actual shipping (phone only, but in original
box).
Best regards,Mike LincolnSalt Lake City, UT84103
