Hello swappers,
I have four empty Seagate GoFlex Desk empty enclosures (for SATA drives only).
They were bought at CostCo stuffed with 3.0 TB drives a month ago; I removed
the bare drives, which now form an array in my Mac Pro. These are high quality
enclosures and are USB 3.0 (backwards compatible with 2.0), so you'll find they
are blazing fast with the right controller card. New, you'd pay at about $20
(at least before a probably-never-to-be-seen rebate) for cheap as heck,
ill-fitting, USB 2.0 only, generic enclosures (e.g., Rosewill, Tiger Direct),
and $35 to $45 for name brand, USB 3.0 enclosures (e.g. OWC, NewEgg) that are
on more of a par with these. Remember they are BRAND NEW, never used, high
quality Seagate cases; the "Flex" in GoFlex means you can buy Seagate accessory
interfaces (Thunderbolt, Firewire) if you choose.
The cases will come in original boxes with all accessories, power supplies,
cables, etc. I'll leave off the halves I removed to get at the drives, so you
can more easily see what you have to do to insert the new drives and reassemble
(and perhaps later disassemble again)...its a bit of a puzzle otherwise.
I'm asking (and, please propose your best offer, especially for a combo deal on
all four!) for $19 apiece plus actual shipping. Buy all four at a discount!
Best regards,Mike Lincoln Salt Lake City, UT 84103
